I spent 8 months working on Kauai in 1992-3 to help restore damaged homes from hurricane Iniki. The island of Kauai is beautiful & its people are very friendly. I did observe that they once had railroads that serviced the sugar industry. If you are a fan of industrial narrow gauge railroads you will want this DVD. Lihue Plantation had the largest private railroad in the Hawaiian islands, it was 30" gauge with GE diesels ! The film was shoot in 1959, the last year of LP`s rail operation & the year Hawaii became the 50th state. You will enjoy the scenery of Kauai & the drama of the last sugar harvest being transported to Lihue mill by early diesels on 30" rail; the end of an era! Relive a great time in Hawaiian history by purchasing this DVD.
